Founder-Owned, Family-Operated & Serving San Jose Since 1976
Quality Tune-Up Car Care Center has been serving Bay Area drivers since 1976, when Ken Davis co-founded the Quality Tune-Up Car Care Center franchise system. The company grew to more than 50 locations, building its reputation around quality automotive service, convenience, value, and treating customers like neighbors.
Our Blossom Hill Road location has an especially important place in that history. This location was started and owned by Quality Tune-Up founder Ken Davis himself, making it more than simply another Quality Tune-Up location. It was part of Ken's personal commitment to providing San Jose drivers with dependable automotive maintenance and repair at a fair price.
Ken passed away in 2025, but his legacy remains an important part of who we are. Today, the Davis family continues to actively own and operate the Blossom Hill location, carrying forward the same commitment to quality workmanship, honest recommendations, exceptional value, and personal customer service that Ken believed in.
After 50 years, we're proud that Quality Tune-Up Car Care Center on Blossom Hill Road remains a family-owned and operated San Jose auto repair shop with direct roots to the company's founder.
While vehicles and automotive technology have changed dramatically since 1976, our philosophy hasn't: take care of our customers, provide quality automotive service at a competitive price, and help keep the vehicles our neighbors depend on safe and reliable.

California STAR Smog Check Station in San Jose
Need a smog check in San Jose, or does your California DMV registration renewal require your vehicle to be inspected at a STAR station?
Quality Tune-Up Car Care Center on Blossom Hill Road is a California STAR Smog Check Station serving San Jose, Almaden, and surrounding South Bay communities.
We can perform smog inspections for vehicles directed to a STAR station as well as vehicles that do not specifically require a STAR station.
Unlike a smog-test-only facility, Quality Tune-Up is also a full-service automotive maintenance, diagnostic, and repair center. If your check engine light is illuminated or your vehicle has another problem that could affect emissions or prevent it from passing its smog inspection, our ASE Certified Technicians can diagnose the underlying issue and recommend the appropriate repair.
That means you can rely on one neighborhood automotive service center for your STAR smog check, vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and automotive repairs.
No appointment is necessary. STAR smog checks are available on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis, including Saturdays.
Oil Changes & Preventive Maintenance in San Jose
Routine vehicle maintenance is one of the best ways to protect your investment, improve reliability, and identify developing problems before they become larger and more expensive repairs.
Quality Tune-Up Car Care Center provides professional oil changes and preventive maintenance for San Jose drivers. Depending on your vehicle's mileage, condition, and manufacturer recommendations, our team can also help with filters, fluids, belts, hoses, and other scheduled maintenance services.
An oil change is also an opportunity to inspect your vehicle for developing maintenance and safety concerns.
Our goal isn't simply to change your oil and send you on your way. We want to help you understand the overall condition of your vehicle and identify issues that may need attention now or in the future.
Brake Repair & Brake Service in San Jose
Your vehicle's braking system is one of its most important safety systems.
If you're hearing squeaking or grinding, experiencing vibration while braking, noticing a change in brake pedal feel, or simply aren't sure about the condition of your brakes, bring your vehicle to Quality Tune-Up Car Care Center for a brake inspection.
Our ASE Certified Technicians can inspect your braking system, identify worn or damaged components, and recommend the appropriate brake service or repair.
Whether your vehicle needs brake pads, rotors, hydraulic system service, or a complete brake inspection, our goal is to help keep your vehicle stopping safely and reliably.
Check Engine Light Diagnostics in San Jose
When your check engine light comes on, your vehicle is telling you that something needs attention, but the warning light alone doesn't necessarily tell you what needs to be repaired.
Today's vehicles use sophisticated computer-controlled systems, making proper diagnosis an important part of repairing the problem correctly.
Our ASE Certified Technicians provide check engine light and automotive diagnostic services to identify the source of the problem rather than simply guessing which component needs to be replaced.
Once we've diagnosed the issue, we'll explain what we found and discuss the appropriate repair options so you can make an informed decision before repairs are performed.
Auto A/C Service & Cooling System Repair
Whether your air conditioner isn't keeping you comfortable or your engine is running hotter than normal, Quality Tune-Up Car Care Center can help.
We provide automotive air conditioning service along with radiator and cooling system diagnostics and repair in San Jose.
If your A/C isn't cooling properly, you notice a coolant leak, your vehicle is overheating, or you're experiencing another cooling system concern, our technicians can inspect the system, diagnose the problem, and recommend the appropriate service.
Scheduled & Manufacturer-Recommended Maintenance
Keeping up with scheduled maintenance is one of the most effective ways to protect your vehicle, maintain reliability, and reduce the likelihood of unexpected breakdowns.
Our San Jose auto service team can help you stay current with manufacturer-recommended maintenance based on your vehicle's make, model, mileage, driving conditions, and service needs.
Whether your vehicle needs fluid maintenance, filters, belts, hoses, a tune-up, or other mileage-based services, we'll help you determine which maintenance is appropriate for your vehicle.

Affordable automotive care shouldn't mean sacrificing quality.
