I had my vehicle smog checked. There was an expected 3 hour wait when I arrived. The manager agreed to write up the work order, let me keep my car, and phoned me to bring my car back when they were ready to do the smog check.

I’ve been getting smog checks here for 20+ years, and I’m usually in and out in 30 minutes. They’re pretty frank about how your car is hooked up to a machine only for the smog test, so they don’t even really look for things to upsell you on unless you specifically ask for other services. They’re consistently busy with work, and have been family owned for several decades. I’ve been seeing the same fellow here for ages working the office with greasy hands if the usual woman isn’t there that day. One of my neighbors knows the family personally, and says they’re good people who do honest work. Reputation matters and word gets around in more than just digital spaces, even today.
