This is my go-to place for ethical oil changes, smog tests and vehicle inspections, although they offer more. Sukhi the manager is very nice and knowledgeable and they take their work seriously. They work on all types of cars. Make sure to register for the email coupons! They even have a great foodtruck in the back with a picnic tent. Give them a try and I'll see you there!

I took my car in for a smog check to Quality Tune Up on McKee Rd. in San Jose early Saturday morning. When I called the night before, they said they take in customers on a first come, first served basis. I got there before they opened at 8:30 AM and there were already 3 people ahead of me. When they opened, they were pretty quick in taking care of people in line. Luis was the tech who took my info for my smog check. I shared with him that I had an appointment in an hour. He let me know that the smog check would take 30 minutes. I timed it as my experience with other places I've taken my car for a smog check often went longer than the time they quoted me. True to his word, Luis came up to me in the customer waiting area and said that my car was ready...and there was still 2 minutes to spare on the estimated time he gave me. I appreciate their professionalism and friendliness, and accommodating me given my timeframe. The cost for the smog check was pretty standard and would've cost me less if I had a coupon. I'll remember that the next time.

Really like that shop, always helpful and knowledgeable. Needed a smog cert. Had to clear the check engine light from previous repair I made. And got it to turn off. But as I found out. It needed more and Mike told me to drive around so it would have something to check. AJ suggested a trip to Gilroy or 2. I went south turn right at Gilroy, right at Watsonville, right at Santa Cruz, right at Los Gatos back to Quality Tune Up. Passed smog! I was also concerned about my timing chain. Mike told me it has chain and not to worry. You can ask them almost anything about cars and they'll set you straight. So my 2007 Dodge Caliber will keep running ok if I take it to Quality Tune Up, I have been going there for about 20 years now. Happy motoring to you. Glenn Stidger

Sukhwinder was great to work with! I have a long 1988 truck and between the age and size I went to 3 other smog shops that weren’t able to test it. He let me know how long it would take and really knew what he was doing. He was very professional and personable working with the other customers there as well. I’ll definitely go back when I need work done.
