The technician and their manager recommended full brake replacement (rotors and brake pads) because there were "almost rubbing metal together" both on back AND front brakes. Quoted me $1000 and urged to make replacement that same morning. Naturally, I refused and got second opinion. Turns out front and back - I still had 4-5mm left on brake pads and I could've safely driven on the road at least 3-6 months. So I don't know whether it was incompetence, over-abundance of caution or them trying to take advantage of me -- but I'll NEVER be back.
Giorgi, The industry standard is immediate replacement at 3mm or below. The measuring tools are red at 3mm and below for that reason. We performed an inspection on all 4 wheels, both inside and outside pads. We found your lowest measurements at 3mm in the rear and almost metal to metal in the front. Sometimes your pads wear unevenly from wheel to wheel and from inside to outside. So make sure that the shop that did your second opinion measured both the inside and the outer pads on all four wheels. We wish you the best in your car care service. We're here if you need us. I came here for a smog check. The manager (Mike) greeted me and let me know how long the service would take. My car was ready much sooner than anticipated which allowed me to go the same day to complete my registration renewal - huge plus. Side note - I left something behind and Mike called to let me know. When I came by to pick it up, he was looking out for me and brought me the folder I'd left. Great service all around!

Took my 91 Ford F250 in for smog test.Tech told me it failed because he couldn't find the spout. (The spot needs to be removed in order to check the timing) Charged me 130.00, said re test would be 30.00 more. Took it to another test facility, passed, no problem! This tech doesnt know older vehicles. I called, talked to Louis, he told me I should get a refund, he had to talk to the boss on Tuesday, 7/5/22 I told him, if I didn't hear from him, I would dispute it with my credit card company. Fyi, Happy smog on story rd. Only charged 90.00, passed no problem. Responce to owner, the problems were not repaired, your tech did not know where the timing spout was, I took it to a test only shop. It passed no problem. Your tech told me to take it to a mechanic, why didn't he five me an estimate if he knew how to fix it?
