I took my car to make a friend and the mechanic bent down he saw that it was not the original catalyst and still put the machine for him to do the test and then charge and say that he did not go through the catalyst it seems to me that the person acted without conscience he already knew that the vehicle was not going to pass he did not have to do that to charge an exaggerated amount be careful with going to that place

It’s important to clarify that, by law, once a vehicle is presented to us for a smog inspection, we are required by the State of California to proceed with the test in the condition it is received. Under California BAR regulation section 3340.45, we must test and report the results, even if we notice a visual issue like a non-original catalytic converter. We don’t have discretion to stop the test once the process has begun, and we cannot “pre-inspect” or make assumptions about whether a vehicle will pass.
