In extreme cold, additional idle time may be needed for visibility, defrosting, or safe operation, but prolonged warmups are not required for most daily starts.

Myth 4: A short drive fully recharges a weak battery.

Dark color alone does not establish fluid condition, but manufacturer intervals and moisture testing provide useful guidance.

Transmission fluid also experiences heat, oxidation, and contamination from normal internal wear. Some vehicles do not list a routine interval under ordinary conditions, while others require service at specific mileage points. The phrase lifetime fluid does not mean the fluid remains chemically unchanged forever. The correct decision depends on the transmission design, service history, fluid condition, and manufacturer procedure.
